Old Time Radio – Mystery in the Air

Ready to get scared?  Mystery in the Air is a 1945 series starring and hosted by Peter Lorre.  It’s one of my favorites.  There are some lost episodes.  As far as I know these are all that survive.  Born László Löwenstein of a  Jewish family of Austrian/Hungarian descent, Peter Lorre became renown with his portrayal of a serial killer who preys on little girls in the German film M. Later he became a popular featured player in Hollywood crime films and mysteries, notably alongside Humphrey Bogart and Sydney Greenstreet, and as the star of the successful Mr. Moto detective series.

One Response to “Old Time Radio – Mystery in the Air”

  1. Glad you enjoy “Mystery in the Air”! It’s one of my favorite old-time radio series, too. Peter Lorre’s series, however, aired in the summer of 1947, not 1945. There were a total of 13 episodes. The first one is in the archives of the Library of Congress. The final 8 are commercially available. The others are, unfortunately, lost.

And it’s “The Marvelous Barastro”, not “The Great Barastro”.
